  • Cannady named First Team All-League for baseball

  • Augusta's Joe Cannady was named All-Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League-Div. III First Team for baseball as a third baseman.
    Cannady also earned honorable mention as an All-League pitcher.
    During his final season with the Orioles, Cannady had a .920 fielding percentage and committed just four errors in 21 games. On the mound, Cannady finished with a team-low 1.59 ERA in 35 1/3 innings. He had 27 strikeouts while allowing 25 hits and 11 walks. He allowed eight earned runs and 11 total runs.
    At the plate, Cannady tied for the team lead in total hits (26), led the Orioles with 14 RBIs and finished second with a .371 batting average (min. 20 ABs).
    Logan Hiser was selected to the All-League Second Team. Hiser led the team in innings pitched (42 2/3), saves (4), strikeouts (44) and opposing batting average for starters (.191). Hiser only allowed 16 earned runs in 12 game appearances, but finished with a 2-3 record. He allowed the second lowest batting average (.191) for the team.
    Dalton Wheat earned All-League Second Team honors at shortstop. Wheat had a .916 fielding percentage with eight total errors in 21 games. At the plate, Wheat had team-highs with a .388 batting average (min. 20 ABs), .537 on-base percentage, 26 hits (tie with Cannady), 11 doubles, 10 steals and 23 runs scored.
    On the mound, Wheat had one save and finished with a 2.84 ERA after 12 1/3 innings. He had 20 strikeouts to eight hits and six walks. He had a team-low .170 opponents' batting average.
    Kolton Schenker earned All-League honorable mention as a pitcher for the Orioles. Schenker finished with a 4-1 record in eight games appearances. He pitched 34 2/3 innings and had a 3.03 ERA. He had 36 strikeouts to 31 hits and 20 walks. Opponents had a .230 batting average against Schenker, who is only a sophomore.
    Chase Winter earned All-League honorable mention as a catcher. Winter had just one error and a .993 fielding percentage. He six assists and caught six runners stealing base. While hitting, Winter had a .255 average with two triples, 9 RBIs, a pair of sacrifices and eight runs.
    Mulvane, which made it to the state tournament, dominated the First Team selections with seven - Jarrett Price (first base), Michael Bird (second base), Nolan Smith (outfield), Connor Dempsey (pitcher), Austin Duncan (pitcher), Ty Reddington (shortstop) and Alex Evans (utility).
    Rose Hill's lone First Team selection was Gage Grant (catcher). Buhler's Tanner Fisher (outfield), Winfield's Landon Fox (outfield) and El Dorado's Jared Erpelding (outfield) and Aaron Riffel (pitcher) round out the First Team selections.
