A wind advisory is in effect until 9 p.m. Wednesday with southerly winds from 30-35 mph and gusts near 45 mph. Southerly winds are expected to decrease by Thursday to around 19-22 mph, with gusts of around 30 mph. The winds will eventually become westerly and decrease to 11-14 mph. Thursday's temperatures are expected to “cool” off slightly, topping out at around 85 degrees before climbing back into the 90s.
A slight chance of rain has entered the forecast for Thursday night. Storms, possibly severe, from along the Oklahoma border are expected to move north over the area Thursday evening and overnight. However, only small hail is expected over the Flint Hills. Potentially strong thunderstorms are still forecast for Monday and Tuesday.
