Augusta's softball team twice fought back from big deficits to get close, but couldn't keep up with Mulvane, which won the Class 4A regional championship 10-6 Tuesday in Mulvane.

The Orioles fell behind after the Wildcats hit a two-run home run in the first, then added a run for a 3-0 in the second inning.

Augusta scored two runs to cut it to 3-2, but the Wildcats put together a big fifth inning, which included a 3-RBI double that blooped just past the infield, just in front of the outfield and just inside the foul line.

Down 10-6, Augusta had the bases loaded in the sixth, but couldn't finish the rally.

The Orioles finish as regional runner-up champions for the second year in a row.
