Bluestem's baseball team won its first game against Central Plains League leading Trinity Academy 7-5 Monday. The win gave the Lions the chance to win the CPL title in the final game of the season.

Trinity Academy put up five runs in the second and four in the third inning of the nightcap on way to a 10-1 win to hang on to the league title.

In Game 1, Cody Easterday struck out three and allowed two walks and nine hits through seven innings to pick up the win. He also was 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of RBIs.

Chad Izzo was 2-for-3. The Lions finished with eight hits to Trinity's nine.
Bluestem took a commanding lead after a four-run fourth inning and led 7-2 after six. Trinity Academy rallied for three runs in the seventh before the Lions finished them off.

In Game 2, the Lions only pieced together four hits and committed eight errors in the loss. Trinity only had five hits, but was able to capitalize on Lions mistakes for 10 runs.

Bluestem, which made a triumphant return to State last year, finishes the season with a 16-4 record and will compete in the Douglass regional tournament next week.
