Augusta's softball team had the tying run on third base with one out in the seventh, but the Orioles couldn't push the run across in a wild 11-10 loss to Rose Hill Saturday. The games were makeups from a previous rainout.
Destiny Williams hit her first home run of the season to get the Orioles back in the game after falling behind early.
The Orioles won Game 1 8-0 behind a strong pitching performance from Sidney Dey. The Orioles held on to a 1-0 lead for most of the game. Dey was able to get out of two jams with strikeouts to keep the Rockets at bay. Augusta scored two clumps of runs in the final two innings to seal it.
With the loss, Augusta will settle for second place in the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Div. III standings. The Orioles finish one loss behind Mulvane, which swept the Orioles but lost a game to Rose Hill and to Winfield.
Augusta will close out the regular season on the road against Clearwater Monday, then will have a week off before the Mulvane Regional, which begins Monday, May 14.
