  • Boys track takes third at Clearwater

  • CLEARWATER - This was the kind of potential coach Steve Reichardt saw in Augusta’s boys track team at the beginning of the season.
    The Orioles have more experience than they’ve had in recent seasons, and they are consistently competitive. Augusta took third place in the team standings with 59 points. Garden Plain steamrolled the competition for first place with 154 points. Mulvane took second with 64 points.
    “We had a good team effort,” Reichardt said. “Our seniors did a really good job leading the team.
    Those seniors include Zach Budda, who won his third straight high jump title. He won with a jump of 6 feet, 2 inches. His season high is 6’6”at the Orioles’ home meet. He also won at Andover.
    Senior Colton Robinson took second place for the third time this season in the shot put. He finished with a toss of 44’1.75”.
    Kaleb MacNicol, also a senior, took second place in the javelin. He finished with a throw of 150’0”. MacNicol also took fourth place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.71 seconds. Junior Kyler Steinkamp took sixth place in the 200-m with a time of 23.77.
    MacNicol, Steinkamp, senior Alex Clausing and Budda have been close, but now they’ve got a win under their belt. They won the 4x100-m relay race with a time of 45.37.
    Ryan Albright had a good day on the track. He took sixth place in the 400-m dash with a time of 54.8. He also was a part of the Orioles’ winning team in the 4x400-m race. Albright,?Steinkamp, Rande Williams and Clausing finished in 3:40.30.
    Augusta’s 4x800-m relay team took third place with a time of 9:10.19. Rose?Hill’s team won with a time of 8:51.25.
    -   For the girls, Becca Carr took sixth place in javelin with a throw of 91’2”. Bailey Reichardt took fifth in the 100-m dash with a time of 13.64.
