Lauren Michele Hawks of Overland Park and Bradley Joseph French Cottam of Germantown, Tenn., were joined in marriage on July 9, 2011, at Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church in Overland Park. Reverend Bo Burgener, of the Presbyterian Church of Stanley, officiated the 5 p.m. ceremony.
Lauren is the daughter of Terry and Teresa Hawks of Overland Park. She graduated from Blue Valley Northwest High School in 2005 and from Texas Christian University in 2008, receiving her bachelor’s of arts degree in communications and Spanish. She is working in the Children's Ministry Program and Preschool at the Presbyterian Church of Stanley.
Brad is the son of Charlie and Kathy Cottam of Germantown. He graduated from Evangelical Christian School in 2003 and the University of Tennessee in 2007, receiving a bachelor’s degree in science. Brad is a professional player and previously played for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Grandparents of the couple include Andrew and Juanita Hawks, Marietta Gann and the late Donald Gann of El Dorado, Roger and Dorothy French of Grove, Minn.; and Dorothy Cottam and the late Donald Cottam of Memphis, Tenn.
Kiley Lubojasky was maid of honor for the bride and bridesmaids were Blaine Campbell, Kiley Green, Haley Murphy, Sara Shannon and Haley Murphy, all friends of the bride. Attending as flower girl was Ruby Shea Williams, ring bearer was Britton Jeffrey Williams, children of Mika and Jeff Williams, cousins of the bride.
Jeffrey Cottam, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Jac, Cottam, cousin of the groom, and Brett Thomason, Clint Dowdle, Casey Woods and Jordan Tice, all friends of the groom. Ryan Hawks, brother of the bride, and Weston Dacus and Chad Capooth, friends of the groom, served as ushers for the ceremony.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Deer Creek Golf Club. The newlyweds reside in Leawood, Kan.
