Andover's "National Night Out," which was postponed earlier this month due to a local emergency, has been re-scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 27.
The event, which is free to the public, will be held 6-8:30 p.m. at Andover Central Park.
Andover police will be providing hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, chips, and ice cream for everyone in attendance. They are also providing free information on how to keep your family safe.
National Night Out is designed to strengthen relationships between the public and law enforcement. The City of Andover is involved, and so are the Andover Fire Department and several locals business. National Night out has a goal of providing fun activities, entertainment, and community awareness for all ages.
Child Identification Kits, which helps police find missing children, will again be sponsored by Curtis Gray and New York Life Insurance.
Police officers will be sitting in a dunk tank. There will also be special appearances by Police McGruff Dog and 911 Red E. Fox.
The event was originally scheduled for Aug. 2, but was postponed when an explosion on Butler Road demanded the attention of Andover fire and police.
Andover’s Central Park is located at 1607 E. Central St.
