James “Jim” Michael "Cowboy" Sims, 60, of Andover, passed away, Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Via Christi St. Francis with a brain tumor.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, at Dunsford Funeral Home & Crematory, Augusta. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 6, at Prairie Hills Southern Baptist Church.
Jim was born March 23, 1951, to Willard and Helen (McAfee) Sims in Parkersburg, W.Va.. He graduated from High School in Augusta and married Cynthia Kay Brunton on June 1, 1971, in Haverhill. Jim retired from Cessna Aircraft after 36 years as a machine shop foreman.
Survivors include: his wife, Cindy of the home; sons, Shane (Kelley) Sims and James "Matt" Sims, both of Wichita; brothers, Loyd (Joyce) Sims of Augusta and Tom Sims of Wichita; sisters, Barbara Lyon of Long Beach, Calif. and Beverly (Mike) Cheslic of Augusta; two grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, and his son William "Bill" Sims.
A memorial has been established with Prairie Hills Church, 9959 SW Pampas Road, Augusta, 67010, or in care of the funeral home.
