Harry Ray Hummel, 83, of El Dorado, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2010 at Wheat State Manor, Whitewater. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
He was born on Oct. 18, 1926 in Towanda, the son of Rueben and Anise E. (Wynkoop) Hummel. He worked for Chrysler Company in St. Louis in maintenance. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. Harry loved collecting Hummel figurines, working with wood, watching television and relaxing.
On Oct. 3, 1999 he was married to JoAnn Heusner in El Dorado. She preceded him in death June 3, 2010.
Those who survive include: brothers, Robert Hummel and wife Barbara of Mt. Home, Ark., and Roy Hummel and wife Betty of Fall River, Kan.; a sister, Esther McCloud of Newton; step-children and their spouses, Cynthia and Michael Deutscher of Topeka, Gene and Traci Lanning of Marion, Lea Ann and John Knaak of Hillsboro, and Kenny Wood and Shirley Tucci, both of Douglasville, Ga.; and grandchildren, Dylan and Madysen Frantz, Tiffany and Brooke Knaak, Payton Deutscher, and Luke, Seth and Jack Lanning.
He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn; two brothers; and four sisters.
