Bill Hallmark’s summer bowling program was such a success, he decided to begin winter bowling youth leagues. A bowling league will begin in October for bowlers ages 4 through 8 and ages 9 through 21. The first bowling matches are 10 a.m. Oct. 9. There also will be a meeting with parents that day. A meeting to register and find out information about the bowling league will be 10 a.m. this coming Saturday downtown at the Holiday Bowl. Coaches are also needed to help run the leagues. There will be a free coaching clinique Saturday after the registration meeting. The bowling leagues will compete on Saturdays until May 21 of next year. The cost for the 4- to 8-year-olds will be $3 per week for one game with bumpers. The cost for 9- to 21-year-olds will be $8 per week, which includes three games, lineage, t-shirts and the prize fund. There also will be an initial $17 fee to cover the yearly bowling association sanction fee. For more information or to register, call Hallmark, Augusta’s youth bowling director, at 775-9957 on weekends or after 6 p.m. weekdays.
