At 2:13 p.m. Saturday Butler County Sheriff Deputies responded to the report of a two-vehicle accident at NW 170th and Butler Road.


At 2:13 p.m. Saturday Butler County Sheriff Deputies responded to the report of a two-vehicle accident at NW 170th and Butler Road.

Upon arrival, deputies found a 2008 Pontiac Gran Prix and a newer model Chevy pickup involved in the accident.

Deputies stated that the Gran Prix, driven by Stacy Rhodes, 24, of Newton, was westbound on NW 170th while the Chevy pickup, driven by Brandon Smith, 34, of Newton, was northbound on Butler Road. The vehicles collided in the intersection.
The Gran Prix came to rest on Butler Road and the pickup left the roadway and overturned in a field on the northwest corner of the intersection.

Passengers in the Rhodes vehicle were 14-year-old Mariah Folley and 2-year-old Timothy Rhodes.

Passengers in Smith vehicle were 30-year-old Tiffany Paulsen; Amber Hatfield, age and address unknown at this time; Tiffany Wamams, age and address unknown at this time; and 19-year-old Tia McCune.

Sheriff Officers believe alcohol may have been a factor and are still investigating. All occupants of both vehicles were transported to St. Francis Hospital in Wichita with varying degrees of injury.
