And Molly Milbourn continues to dominate the field in winning her fourth individual title of the season.
El Dorado scored 34 points as a team to beat host McPherson by 12 points. Hutchinson placed third (76), followed by Buhler (88), Salina South (115) and Newton (159).
Casey Nightengale finished second in the individual standings (17:07.02) to lead the Wildcats, while Michael Riedl was fourth (18:01.02) and Dale Nuckolls fifth (18:13.06). Other times for El Dorado included Sam Haines (ninth, 18:56.59), John Scott (14th, 19:14.96), Donavan Whitfield (27th, 20:39.96) and Michael Bradley (36th, 21:13.50).
“The varsity boys had a superb race as all of our top five runners medaled,”?said El Dorado coach Ron Koppenhaver. “John Scott made the most improvement and him cutting the gap to our top four was the key to our success.”
The Wildcat girls placed third as a team with 60 points. Hutchinson won the team title with 40 points, followed by Buhler (49), El Dorado, McPherson (83) and Salina South (124).
Milbourn won the individual title by one minute and 43 seconds in a time of 15:22.72. Hannah Helferich finished eighth in the individual standings (17:38.06), while Laura Haines was 16th (18:08.43), Sydney Saltsman 17th (18:13.21), Faith Hadley 18th (18:13.56), Kailey Clites 20th (18:17.62), and Samantha Galley 24th (18:55.40).
“The varsity girls did not run as well as last week except for Molly and Hannah who did a great job,” Koppenhaver said.
El Dorado's Tori Gricol won the girls individual title in the junior varsity race in a time of 19:15.02. Three other runners finished in the top 10 (Shelbie Storrer, seventh, 20:08.70; Andrea Valadez, eighth, 20:22.75; Tessa Heslop, ninth, 20:26.55). Andi Copeland finished 16th (21:35.27) and Savannah Gannon finished 28th (25:53.00).
Thomas Groom led the Wildcats junior varsity squad with a 17th place finish in their race (21:38.56) with Ethan Spivey right behind in 19th (21:50.09). Other times for the squad include Tanner Clites (27th, 22:40.50), Trent Schneweis (31st, 22:51.24), James Hays (32nd, 22:52.97), and William Swan (37th, 24:32.12).
The Wildcats' next action will be Oct. 2 in the Newton Invitational.
