Mary Elizaeth "Bette" Wheeler-Hull will be celebrating her 91st birthday with family.

Mary Elizaeth "Bette" Wheeler-Hull will be celebrating her 91st birthday with family. She was born at her maternal grandparents farm south of El Dorado on September 23, 1919. She and her husband, Paul, now own and have retired to this same farm.

Bette graduated from Towanda High School in 1937 and was valedictorian of her class. She attended Southwestern College, Friends University and graduated from Wichita University in 1941 with a bachelor of music degree. Later, she did graduate studies in literature at Emporia State University and in education at the University of  Kansas. She began teaching in 1941 and except for a few years she took off to have her children continued until her retirement in 1981. Beginning with Peabody her career included position at Towanda, Beaumont, Kansas City, Kansas and Lawrence.

Professionally, she was president of Tau Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa and was president of the President Council of ADK for the State of Kansas and past regent of Susannah French Putney Chapter of DAR. At present, she has membership in Upsilion Chapter of ADK, Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of the Eastern Star, Butler County Retired Teachers and Towanda Senior Center. In college she was a member of Delta Rho Alpha Nu and Kappa Delta Pi sororities.
Personally, Bette was married to Paul G. Hull on April 18, 1942 at Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Since retirement they have traveled to all the lower states of USA and six eastern provinces of Canada. They have lived in Ft. Smith, AR; San Antonio, TX; Sparta, WN; Indianapolis, IN; Baltimore, MD; Columbia, SC; and in KS at Wichita, Towanda, Leon, Kansas City Lawrence and El Dorado. They have two children, Rev. Dr. Paul Jr. of Lancaster, MA and Susan Green of Topeka. There are five grandchildren, four live in PA; June Dentzer, Christopher, Jeremy Collin and one Dianne Green lives in TX. All five great grandchildren live in PA, Emma Lena, Nora, Joseph and Amelia.
