A former Wichita high school English teacher has been sentenced to a year's probation and 10 years on the state sex offender list for sending suggestive messages to a 14-year-old girl over the Internet.

Kevin Christinat pleaded no-contest last month to a charge of attempted exploitation of a child. The Wichita Eagle reports the 32-year-old Northeast Magnet High School teacher admitted he was addicted to porn.

Christinat's attorney said his client made a bad decision when he asked the Washington teen to perform sex acts on a web camera for him. The girl refused and her mother found a record of the chat.

Christinat has surrendered his teaching license and resigned from the school district.
