Members of the 2010 Kansas Silver Haired Legislature will convene next week at the Statehouse with an agenda that includes term limits for elected officials and legalizing marijuana for medical purposes.

The group will hold a workshop Monday, with a full session set for Tuesday.

The term limit proposal would cap Senate terms at two four-year stints. House terms would be limited to four two-year terms. Currently, Kansas has no limits on how long legislators may serve.

Another proposal would eliminate sales tax exemptions for all organizations that do not provide services and benefits statewide.

All proposed legislation will have hearings in committees before votes are taken. The measures are nonbinding and are forwarded to the Kansas Legislature for consideration during the 2011 session.
