The Butler Grizzlies volleyball team will probably fall out of the national rankings later this week after losing three of four matches at the Lindenwood Invitational last weekend.
The Grizzlies have won only one match after being ranked 22nd in the latest NJCAA Division II poll. Butler is 1-4 since the ranking and is now 9-7 overall on the season.
Butler opened up play with a five-game loss to John A. Logan College (25-22, 25-17, 19-25, 23-25, 15-12). Megan Glandon was the only Grizzly in double figure kills with 10, while Brittany Brown had nine kills, and Amanda Newlin eight kills and five blocks.
The Grizzlies suffered another five-game loss to Iowa Lakes in their second match (23-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-12, 20-18). Brown recorded 14 kills and six blocks in the match, while Newlin had 13 kills and nine blocks; Dani Riemann had 11 kills; and Kayla Zoglman had 46 assists.
Butler picked up their only win in their first Saturday match, a four-game victory over Southwestern Illinois (25-22, 20-25, 25-6, 25-13). Brown spiked 14 kills in this match, while Newlin had 10 kills and five blocks and Zoglman recorded 40 assists.
The final loss came to the host team in four games (25-20, 25-27, 25-20, 25-21). Brown led the Grizzlies in kills for the third time during the weekend with 11, while Glandon recorded nine kills and three blocks, and Newlin had seven kills and nine blocks.
