Augusta’s 7th-grade football team is off to a rocking 3-0 start this season. The Bluejays have defeated Wellington, Mulvane and Circle so far, and they look to stay unbeaten against a tough Rose?Hill team tonight at home. Last week, the Bluejays toasted the Thunderbirds 32-0. Rob Winzer scored three touchdowns, including one score on a 48-yard catch-and-run. The 8th-grade team team lost in a nailbiter to Circle last week. The Bluejays got within one score late in the game. Connor Hurst even recovered an onside kick to give Augusta a chance for the comeback. But Circle got a sack on the final play and held off Augusta for a 26-22 win. Hurst scored a touchdown earlier in the game on a reverse run. Ben Madison had a solid game, scoring two touchdowns and converting on two two-point conversions. The 7th graders’ game against Rose Hill begins at 5 p.m. The 8th-grade game starts at 6:30.
