Several area organizations received a helping hand this week from the American Legion Auxiliary Ladies Golf Association.

Following the auction of the American Legion's golfing equipment after the course was closed, part of the proceeds, along with the remainder of the money in their treasury, was given to five different entities.

The Ladies Golf Association donated $400 to Sunlight Children's Advocacy & Rights Foundation, the Safehouse, Tri-County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocacy) and Christian Motorcycle Association. In addition, they gave $257.99 to Bethlehem House, as well donating a computer and printer to them.

“We were looking for local community organizations that we felt contribute to the betterment of our community,” said Ginger Glenn, Golf Association co-president.

They chose some organizations to which they had not donated recently. The Golf Association donated regularly to various entities with the proceeds they had from tournaments.

In addition to the donations, some of the funds were used to pay the Lady Golf Association's members' dues to Prairie Trails for one year.
