John F. O’Neal, 89 of Augusta, passed away Sunday, May 23, at Lakepoint of Augusta after a short illness.
There will be a viewing  from 1-6 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, and a graveside at 11 a.m.  on Friday, May 28, at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.  Those attending should use the 12th St. entrance.
John was born to John B. and Alice (Marten) O'Neal on July 11, 1920 in Augusta.  On May 5, 1961, John married Joyce R. Ozbun in Augusta. John served in WW II during the Pacific Theater.  He worked at Boeing until retirement. John loved to hunt and fish and was seen doing daily walks until this last year. John was a member of the First Christian Church of Augusta, the Elks/Moose Lodge of Wichita and the Augusta Lions Club.
John was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Shawn David O'Neal.
He is survived by: his wife, of Lakepoint of Augusta; daughter, Kimberly (Pat) Sponsel of Wichita; grandchildren, Mandy Bell and C Brandon Bell, Wichita; Holly Vannoster, Wichita; Britton O'Neal, Wichita; Robbie Sponsel,  and Kelsi Sponsel, Wichita; one great-grandchild, Kailynn Bell.
