Every year since 1971, the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) has sponsored the Week of the Young Child.
The purpose of this week is to bring attention to the needs of young children and their families.
At El Dorado’s Bradford Memorial Library, artwork by children from El Dorado Headstart, Educare, First Baptist Daycare and Preschool, Skelly four-year-old program, Skelly early education, homeschool and the library’s Story Time will be displayed through the end of April in honor of the Week of the Young Child.
“This is the second year for artwork here,” said Teresa Leonard, Children’s Area supervisor at Bradford Memorial Library. “This year someone called me and asked if we would be doing it again.”
She was already planning to display children’s artwork again, but was encouraged that someone called to ask about it.
“I’m really impressed with the effort the teachers put into this,” said Leonard, “to get their students to do the art and then to bring it in. I hope people will come see it.”
