Mike and Melita McDonald of Eureka and the late Roger Spaht announce the engagement of their daughter, Shasin Spaht of Eureka, to Benjamin Hedges of Burlington.

He is the son of Stephen and Deena Hedges of Burlington. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Caryl Spaht and the late Don Spaht of Rosalia, the late Merle and Jaunita Bacon of Leon and Art and Sue McDonald of Eureka. The prospective groom is the grandson of Sam and Sharon Hedges of Scott City and Marilyn Krebs and the late Bill Krebs of Scott City. The bride-elect is a 2006 graduate of Eureka High School and attended Emporia College for two years and is currently a certified dental assistant and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene. The prospective groom is a 2004 Burlington High School graduate and a 2008 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy with a degree in economics. He is a 2nd Lieutenant Pilot in the United States Air Force and is currently stationed at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Okla. The couple is planning a summer 2010 wedding in Burlington.
