To pay for new emergency communications equipment


Butler County voters have approved a one-quarter cent sales tax to pay for an upgrade in emergency communications equipment.
The vote was 10,280 YES (70.43%) to 4,316 NO (20.57%)
The sales tax will take effect countywide in April of 2010. It is expected to generate $12.9 million to pay for emergency radio upgrades.
The vote-by-mail effort began Nov. 10 and ended Tuesday at noon.
