Lesley C. Siegrist, 91, died Nov. 20, 2009 at Harry Hynes Hospice at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Celebration of his life will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Walnut Valley Memorial Park. Cremation will precede the service.


Lesley C. Siegrist, 91, died Nov. 20, 2009 at Harry Hynes Hospice at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Celebration of his life will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Walnut Valley Memorial Park. Cremation will precede the service.

Les was born March 31, 1918 at Hutchinson, the son of Wesley and Blanche (Measer) Siegrist. He grew up and attended school in Hutchinson graduating high school there. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the 385th Transportation Company as a staff sergeant; he was stationed in Iran, France and Germany.  He was united in marriage to Judith Andrews on June 28, 1978; she preceded him in death Jan. 28, 2008. Les loved to do woodworking, bird watching and was a news junkie. He was a dedicated Democrat.

Survivors include: his daughter, Ruth Ellen and husband Ken Nelson of Topeka; brother, Lloyd and wife Carol of Wichita: sister, Dorothy and husband David McElroy of Maryland; step-son, Chris DeWeese of Cromwell, Okla.; step-daughters, Teresa DeWeese of Anthony, Kan., Julie and husband Rollie Dodds of Kiowa, Kan., and Cary and husband Larry Carroll of Garden Plain; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
