The pedal’s being put to the metal Sept. 5 for the Second Annual Sutherlands Summer Days Classic Car Show located in the Sutherlands parking lot.

Marvin the D.J., KJ’s Shaved Ice, door prizes, a Dukes of Hazzard Car, a D.A.R.E. booth, BBQ and more will be at the show.

“We’re hoping for better weather than last year,” said Doug Casto, Sutherlands assistant manager.
Sixty cars were registered in last year’s show and Casto expects to see around 100 this year due to early registration.

“We have a lot more prizes,” announced Casto.

Coleman coolers, Mag Wheels, a variety of gift certificates for automotive supplies and a $300 grand prize will be up for grabs.

“The proceeds will go to the El Dorado Family Life Center Safe House,” said Casto.

The event will also feature several special guests including Miss Kansas.

The show will be of vehicles from 1984 and older and five winners will be awarded trophies including a “People’s Choice” award which is new this year.

“Everyone who comes out can pick their favorite car,” said Casto.

Registration will begin Saturday at 10 a.m. with a $5 entrance fee and the show will be open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
