The Safe House continues to make improvements and add to the services it offers to those in need in the community.

The Safe House received a donation from members of the community for new carpet in all of the upstairs bedrooms.

“That was from very generous community members,” said Director Darla Carter.

In addition, two board members an a volunteer donated a new kitchen countertop, sink and disposal for the house.

“The house has really become more of a homey atmosphere instead of just a shelter,” she said.

In addition, a grant from Target stores  was awarded to the Safe House earlier this week. They had applied for the $1,000 grant and plan to use it toward a KIDSAFE?program, which is an after-school support group.

“Children are our future, we need to take care of them,”?she said.

They will be trying to find funds to hire an advocate, who also will get the KIDSAFE program started.

Those wishing to donate can call the facility at 321-7104 to see if they have any specific needs at the time, or donations may be mailed to them at P.O. Box 735, El Dorado, KS 67042.
