Raymond and Pat Smith, former El Doradoans now living in Anchorage, Alaska, will celebrate 50 years of marriage on Aug. 30, 2009 with a reception at the Anchorage Senior Center.


Raymond and Pat Smith, former El Doradoans now living in Anchorage, Alaska, will celebrate 50 years of marriage on Aug. 30, 2009 with a reception at the Anchorage Senior Center.
Raymond and Pat Tweedy were married Aug. 30, 1959 at the First Methodist Church in Springdale, Ark., her hometown.
Having graduated from El Dorado High School with the class of 1958, Phillips University in Enid, Okla., and Emporia State, Raymond taught biology in Junction City, Muscatine, Iowa, Sitka and Anchorage before retiring.
Pat also attended Phillips University and has retired from the State of Alaska.
The couple has three children, Phillip, Diana and Sheila; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
