Charles J. “Chuck” Dugone, 76, of Croweburg, Kan., died at 11:45 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Freeman West Hospital at Joplin, Mo., as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident June 18 east of Girard, Kan.


Charles J. “Chuck” Dugone, 76, of Croweburg, Kan., died at 11:45 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Freeman West Hospital at Joplin, Mo., as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident June 18 east of Girard, Kan.

Mr.?Dugone was born Dec. 24, 1932 at Croweburg, the son of Charley and Katie Carzoli Dugone. Mr.?Dugone was a retired businessman and lived in Croweburg the past 25 years. During his career, Chuck was the owner of C&J Distributing Company for 18 years and later owned Associated Realty in?El Dorado before returning to Croweburg. He was in sales for many years and was last employed with Pepsi Cola in Pittsburg, Kan.

He was an avid sports fan and outdoorsman and could usually be found talking at length to friends about hunting, fishing or the latest game. He graduated from?Arma High School in 1951 and later attended Pittsburg State University before entering the Army. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army.

He was married to June Miller of Ft. Dodge, Iowa, and had one son, Lt. Col. Theodore D. “Tedd” Dugone of Washington, D.C. Chuck was a member of the Lon Helm Post #182 American Legion at Arma and had served on the Water District #3 Board of Directors at Croweburg.

Survivors include: his son, Lt. Col. Tedd Dugone of Washington, D.C.; three grandchildren, Tony, Alyssa and Alex Dugone; and an aunt, Jennie Careggio of Croweburg. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Catherine Dugone.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma with Father Lawrence Carney officiating. Burial will be at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bedene Chapel prior to the services. Friends may call from noon to 5 p.m. today at the Bedene  Chapel.
