Nam Nguyen pled guilty to two counts of level three person felony aggravated battery of corrections officers Wednesday in Butler County District Court.

Nguyen is currently incarcerated at the El Dorado Correctional Facility where the incident occurred Aug. 1, 2008.

As part of of the plea agreement, the state is not arguing about consecutive sentencing, although the victims in the case will speak to this issue at the sentencing hearing.

Nguyen, 29, is facing a 55 to 247-month sentence for the crimes.

After entering his plea, Nguyen was asked to describe what happened.

“On Aug. 1, I hit the officer and kicked him and stabbed him with a broken broom handle,” he told the court.

On the second count, he said he hit the other officer with the broom handle.

The court accepted the plea and set a sentencing date of Oct. 1.
