Rich and Donna Poage were married on March 28, 1959, in Hays, Kan., in a small wedding with a few friends and family in attendance.
After they both graduated from Fort Hays State University with bachelor degrees in education, they moved to Winchester, Kan., where Rich took his first teaching and coaching job. Donna was a substitute teacher and stayed home with their growing family. Next they moved to Wakeeny, where Rich coached three sports.
In 1970, the family moved to Augusta, where Rich was hired to teach physical education and coached football and track. He left his successful coaching career in 19980 to begin custom harvesting full-time and sold speciality advertising for Banker’s Advertising Company. In addition, he enjoyed driving a private charter bus for Village Charters for over 18 years. Donna began teaching at Lily Lake School and then moved to Robinson Elementary and retired from the Augusta school system.
Rich and Donna have been long-time active members at the First United Methodist Church in Augusta, where Rich has sang in the choir for many years and Donna has been active in the UMW, Circle, and various other church activities throughout the years.
Their children are David (Cheryl) Poage of Andover, Denise (Rick) Wayland of Augusta, Doug (Michelle) Poage of Carnation, Wash., and the late Dana Poage. They also enjoy several grandchildren and step grandchildren.
A reception is planned for family and friends in July.
