Augusta organizations and people received four special awards during the recent Kansas Department of Commerce Governor’s Award of Excellence on Main Street program in El Dorado.
The awards recognized their downtown development and revitalization efforts.

The awards ceremony highlighted the second day of the three-day symposium, which provides Kansas community developers and business leaders a chance to network, attend workshops and participate in discussion groups regarding their downtown development efforts. .
“We are thrilled to honor these deserving Kansas communities with the Governor’s Award of Excellence on Main Street,” said Secretary of Commerce David Kerr.
 “These awards are given annually to individuals and organizations that have demonstrated outstanding commitments to downtown revitalization and development. Because of these winners, communities throughout Kansas are preserving their heritage, their Main Streets and their historic downtowns while also finding new ways to move forward.”
