The 2008 4-H Barnyard Olympics were held on Wednesday morning.

The event featured a contest in which teams gathered in groups and one team member would pull another across the arena, around an ambassador then back to the group.

Each team member took turns riding on the scoop shovel and pulling.

The heated race was a crowd pleaser at the event.

Kids fell in the dirt, laughed and learned how to work together as a team, while in direct competition with their peers.

The event helped many unwind after a day of judging and presenting livestock. Kids got to get dirty and make some noise.

In the Juniors level, the “Midnight Cobras” took third place.

“Lil Ones” claimed the second place position and the “Hog-Wild Cats” took first.

The senior level 4-Hers also participated in the event.

The team “Sunflower Gang” took first place in the competition.

And fourth place was a photo finish with the “Goats” and the “Mustangs” neck and neck.

The event finished with cheers and laughter as the kids dusted the dirt off and enjoyed their individual victories.
