St. James Blue scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat the Church of Christ team 17-11 and repeat as champions in the Augusta Church League Tournament at Moyle Field.

The two teams had split their earlier two games in the double-elimination tournament — St. James Blue (Blue) winning in a second round game last week, and the Church of Christ (CofC) claiming a 13-5 victory earlier Monday — to set up the championship game. It was the third game the CofC played Monday night after beating Valley Hope No. 1 11-8 earlier to battle for the title.

The CofC led 8-2 after 2½ innings before the Blue started their rally in the bottom of the third with three runs. The Blue then took the lead in the bottom of the fourth with six runs — including a grand slam and a two-run home run — for an 11-8 lead.

After the CofC scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game before the Blue had its rally in the bottom of the inning to seal the victory.
