The Derby Twins closed out their regular season schedule Sunday night with a split of a doubleheader against the Dodge City Athletics at Panther Field.


The Derby Twins closed out their regular season schedule Sunday night with a split of a doubleheader against the Dodge City Athletics at Panther Field.


The Athletics won the first game 2-1, with the Twins capturing the nightcap 12-8.
Derby finished 22-12 in the league standings and 26-14 overall.


Derby took advantage of an error in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead to take the lead in 1-0 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. Eric Shortell singled, stole second, went to third on a grounder and scored on an error by Dodge City’s Taylor Robbins.


Dodge City answered with two runs in the eighth on RBI hits by Robbins and Travis Meiners.


Nathan Johnson took the loss for Derby.


Louis Templeton, Alex Martinez and William Uechi had three hits and a home run apiece to lead the Twins in the nightcap.


Derby scored four in the first and five in the fifth for their big scoring innings.
Reliever Erik Gregersen was the winning pitcher for the Twins.
