Does this not surprise us about the school board....pushing to get the bond passed to build a new gym at the Middle School without a thought about parking?  Can you believe they had the audacity to ask Mr. Parry ( first house north of the Middle School) if he would consider surrendering his home for a  parking lot?  Just to add a few parking places?  What mindless stupidity -- using no regard for people’s personal feelings.  This home is one of the most elaborately constructed historic homes in Augusta.  Did it ever occur to the brilliant architect or school board that they could possibly build their gym out of sight behind the school, stay out of the flood plains and build their unsightly parking lot in the soccer fields?

If it is possible I'm sure the school district will save a tree. But I think someone could get hurt if it is the middle of a basketball court.
I know there is a tree that will need to go at Ewalt that my daughter's class planted it, but I won't ask for it to be saved, I'll just donate a new one. Please move on - you are all making Augustans look like fools.

Apparently  Kent Bush did extensive research on the folly of "believing" in global warming since he was so adamant in dismissing it--or was that just a "gut" feeling?  How people can cavalierly discount the work of countless reputable scientists in regard to global warming is a mystery to me.  Those who "pooh pooh" global warming are calling research scientists extremists.  I think the people who are in denial about the environmental problems this tired earth faces are the extremists. If good science journals aren't available, perhaps watching the excellent science shows on PBS would help people understand exactly how global warming is affecting us.

Who cares about some old tree?  Just because it’s been there for 100 years or more  doesn’t mean it matters.  Let’s get on with building another  gym and parking lot that will need replaced in another 10 years or so.  Forget about the tree -- it’s a losing battle anyway.   No one cares about your old tree.
