The El Dorado Prairie Port Festival will be featuring a flea market the third consecutive year on the courthouse lawn on July 26.

The location last year was at Gordy Park and the event was held on Sunday, this year the turn out is expected to be larger, said Jim Gardner, advisor for the El Dorado Youth Commission.

“We think attendance will be much higher due to everyone attending events on Saturday,” Gardner said.

The market will have various vendors selling a wide variety of souvenirs and gift items.
“Basically this event is open to anyone wanting to sell,” he said.

Sponsored by the El Dorado Youth Commission, the market is open to vendors, yard sale individuals, bake sales and fund raisers for clubs and organizations.

“We want to invite fundraisers,” said Gardner.

Entry forms must be submitted by July 25.

The Flea Market Committee will assign spaces on first come, first served basis.

Fees include two Prairie Port Festival buttons which admits wearers to all events at the festival Thursday through Sunday.

All exhibitors must wear a visible button and buyers will be admitted with Prairie Port buttons.

Vehicles will not be allowed on the lawn and set up will begin at 6 a.m.

Firearms, live animals, alcohol, gambling and offensive materials are not allowed.

“The only limitation we have is firearms and fireworks,” said Gardner.

No food or beverages may be sold unless arrangements are made in advance with the El Dorado Youth Commission.

Vendors will remain open for business until 4 p.m.

“We still have available spaces,” said Gardner.

Gardner urges anyone interested to call for additional information.
