The Augusta Orioles boys golf team placed fifth out of 11 teams Tuesday afternoon in the Hesston Invitational.

The Orioles shot 331 as a team with Trey Hayden leading the way after shooting a 78, good for a 10th place finish.


Other scores for the Orioles included Brad Lakey (82), Connor Carman (83), Logan Hayden (88), Chance Clark (89) and Ryan Vogel (103).


Wichita Collegiate won the team title with a 306, 15 shots better runner-up Hesston. Buhler was third at 323, followed by Wellington (329), Augusta, Wichita Trinity (334), Hillsboro (350), Hoisington (352), Nickerson (362) and Andover Central (423).


The Orioles will play their next two tournamens at Wichita’s Tex Consolver Golf Course. Augusta will play Thursday in the Goddard Invitational (start time 3 p.m.), and return May 6 (start time 9 a.m.) for the Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Division III tourney.
