Hollis M. Overton, 87, of Towanda, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2007 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. 

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Towanda Cemetery, Towanda. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, also at the funeral home.

Hollis was born Aug. 6, 1920 in El Dorado, the son of Thomas D. and Thelma Louise Slankard Overton. He attended El Dorado schools and graduated from El Dorado High School in 1939. He attended El Dorado Junior College before joining the Army Air Corp during WWII. He was married to Berniece Olson, Nov. 1, 1946 in El Dorado. He worked for many years for Beech Aircraft and Raytheon as a mechanical technician. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, El Dorado; Patmos Masonic Lodge # 97; Supervisors Club at Raytheon; honorary member of the Lions Club; and had helped with Rainbows.

Survivors include: his wife, Berniece of the home; one daughter, Diane Kirkpatrick,and husband Denny of Towanda; grandson, Brent Kirkpatrick and wife Christina; and step-great grandchildren, Kayla and Braden Alexander, all of Belleville; one brother, Tom Overton, Jr. of Ponca City, Okla.; two sisters, Joy Rogers of Neodesha and Patsy Jean Galyen of El Dorado; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial are to the First United Methodist Church and may be left at Carlson Funeral Home, where friends may call Wednesday and until service time on Thursday.
